*Update* iTunes 7.2: DRM Free Music!
by Carl on May.30, 2007, under from the interwebs, good n plenty, in the news
You’ll pay a 30cent premium ($1.29/song) to buy DRM free music, but you’re also gonna get a higher bitrate (ie potentially better sounding music). So, now you can transfer your songs to other media players, other computers, etc, and not have to worry about authorizing, deauthorizing, etc.

[Update] According to Arstechnica, via Slashdot, Apple is embedding your full name and iTunes account email in the DRM-free song… Stay tuned!
Google Daily 100
by Carl on May.23, 2007, under from the interwebs, general, in the news
So Google is about to release a list of the top 100 daily topics searched for on their popular search engine, at least that’s my understanding of it.
As soon as I saw the heading for the story, I immediately had a question that was luckily addressed in the article:
“The list won’t include all of the top queries because it will be edited to exclude pornography and other requests about the weather, popular Web sites like MySpace.com or prominent celebrities that consistently generate lots of searches.”

Depressing
by Carl on Apr.16, 2007, under in the news
What a horrible news day:
Many (33+) dead in Virginia Tech shooting
15 Year Old Pleads Guilty to Stabbing of 2 CMU Students
Kindergartener dies after a flagpole topples over in the wind
A teenager is dead while at a party
And the list goes on… How terribly depressing, so many families ruined.

On it’s way

I posted on this a while back with no real idea of this actually hitting the market.
Art Lebedev Studios is releasing their OLED keyboard on Feb. 1st and it will cost about the same as “a good mobile phone.” But what is a “good” mobile phone? The Razr? That ranges from $150 (after rebates of course) to $500 in some cases. Most speculate that it will be in the vacinity of $100 to $175.
Will you get one?

Dual Display Monitor
by Carl on Jul.15, 2005, under in the news, interesting find
This was up on multiple sites yesterday, I saw it at HardOCP first. Share has a new technology to display two images on a single monitor. You can see either of the images by changing your viewing angle; for instance, if one person was viewing the monitor from the left, they’d be seeing a different image/movie than the person who was viewing from the right.
Here’s a pic.

Best…Keyboard…Ever
by Carl on Jul.15, 2005, under in the news, interesting find
This is one awesome keyboard if I do say so myself, saw it on SlashDot the other day. It’s called Optimus and I hope it makes it to production although I’m really curious what the price would be. It uses OLEDs (cheaper than today’s LCD tech, they also consume less power and are brighter) to change the characters of each physical key. Additional pictures are up in the gallery(Link to Gallery).
